   Only if your business model is unsustainable.
   Try setting up your own website and see how much that costs. See how much a provider charges you for processing credit card payments. PayPal’s fees are reasonable for the service they provide. You cover your overhead by charging more for your item.
   If charging more for your item means no one will buy it, then your business model is unsustainable.

   The thing about eBay is to try to make the most of every VISITOR that comes to your listings, not just the buyers. I have been using Classified Ads to sell some things and the sales easily cover the $10 per month fee.
   It is getting harder to make money on eBay, but you need to be more creative in your approaches. If you’re selling the same things over and over, you really should have some type of newsletter to keep in touch with your customers. Past customers are more ready to buy from you again than trying to get a brand new customer.

   Yes, I was a silver powerseller a couple of years ago but ebay has gotten so competitive the profit margins are way too thin.
   Make more money on an eBay style website? Make 5% on seller fees and ad revenues, plus refer a friend and make 4% on their profits, 2% on their friends profits, and 1% and their friends friends. Money to be made, sign up is free.

   Yes it is getting harder to make money. The fees and the whole lay out of ebay has become more buyer friendly. As a new seller it’s been hard to make a profit. I do make some profit but not as much as I would like to. With new feedback changes, it has made selling difficult. Now seller can’t leave negative feedback- which makes difficult customers even more difficult to please in fear they will leave negative feedback. It’s been hard but I truely enjoy selling on ebay. I just wish they lower fees and not just give breaks to BIG Power Sellers.
